In the quiet countryside of Frayssinet, in the Southwest France, I was on an evening walk to see the sheep, the air soft, the world unhurried…that sunset captured my heart.
 
Light gathered at the horizon, burning low and golden, while violet clouds stretched and drifted above it like a slow-moving tide. It felt as though the sky was exhaling - color unfolding in long, luminous breaths, too alive to be held, too fleeting to keep.
 
When I returned to paint this beautiful memory, I set the brush aside. I needed to touch the sky to remember it. My fingers moved through the color - smearing, pressing, lifting - trying to follow its rhythm, its softness, its quiet urgency.
 
Below, the land rests in shadow and stillness, a small house tucked gently into the green, while above, the sky lingered in that suspended the stillness between day and night.
